Baketivity Baking Kits: Four of our Favorites
If you’re looking for something fun to do when it’s raining, freezing cold, or you’re just stuck inside all day, you’re not alone. And if you have an aspiring little chef who really wants to make their own creations—but still needs a bit of guidance in the kitchen—Baketivity baking kits are such a great solution.
We’ve tried four different Baketivity kits, and every single one has been a hit in our house—especially with my elementary-aged kids. They’re hands-on, easy to follow, and actually allow kids to take the lead without parents having to prep a million ingredients ahead of time.
Below is a roundup of our favorite Baketivity baking kits and what our experience was like using each one.

What You’ll Need Before You Start
With all Baketivity baking kits, you’ll need a few basic kitchen tools on hand. Think:
Mixing spoons and spatulas
Cookie sheets or baking pans
Measuring cups
And most importantly… an oven
Some kits also require simple cold ingredients, like butter or eggs, so be sure to read through the clear instructions before getting started. Everything is laid out very clearly, which makes prep easy and stress-free.
Baketivity Soft Pretzel Baking Kit
What kid doesn’t love playing with dough—especially when they get to twist it into pretzels?
This kit was an instant favorite in our house. My kids were 8 and 6 years old when we tried it, and they truly led the entire process. We taped the easy-to-read instructions to the kitchen cabinets, pulled out the step stool, and let them take charge.
The ingredients were pre-measured and clearly labeled, so all they had to do was follow the steps and add everything in the correct order. We helped a bit with kneading and twisting, but honestly, perfection wasn’t the goal here—fun was.
When the pretzels came out of the oven, the smell of warm, fresh dough filled the kitchen, and they couldn’t wait to dig in. They tasted great, but the pride on their faces when they finished was the best part.

Baketivity Cake Pop Baking Kit
This one might have been the most exciting of all.
Not only do kids get to bake the cake portion, but they also get to melt chocolate, dip the cake pops, and decorate them with sprinkles—arguably the best part. You don’t need molds for this kit; the kids shape the cake pops with their hands.
Were they perfectly round? Not even close—and that’s what made them perfect. They turned out delicious, and the kids felt so proud showing them off.

Baketivity Cinnamon Roll Baking Kit
This kit took a little more time, but it was perfect for where my kids were developmentally—they were a year older and ready for a bigger challenge.
There are a few more steps involved, but the directions are still very kid-friendly. The kids got to practice rolling out dough, layering the cinnamon filling, and even helping put the rolls in and out of the oven.
I’ll admit—they may have baked them a tiny bit too long—but even then, they were still delicious and made the best cozy breakfast treat.

Baketivity Ice Cream Sandwich Baking Kit
This kit screams summer fun, but honestly, it works any time of year.
Kids bake the chocolate cookies and then use a provided mold to pipe in the ice cream and assemble the sandwiches. Just a heads-up—you don’t make the ice cream from scratch with this kit; you've got to buy (or make) this separately. But the process of building the sandwiches is still so fun and interactive.

Why We Love Baketivity Baking Kits
What we really love about the Baketivity kits are that they are easy to follow along, have simple instructions with pictures and that they come with the pre-measured ingredients. Personally, that last one is my favorite because most everything is there and I don't have to run out to the store to buy a full container of something just to use a teaspoon, or gather a full shopping list so they can make something cool. It really helps to keep it simple.
They’re:
Great for rainy or cold days
Perfect for elementary-aged kids
A fun mix of learning and creativity
Easy to gift
If you’re looking for a screen-free activity that actually feels worthwhile, these kits are absolutely worth trying.
